(Sarasota, Florida-AP) -- Tropical Storm Gabrielle has left 300,000 homes and businesses without power along Florida's Gulf Coast.
The storm hit between Sarasota and Fort Myers and soaked the state from the Florida Keys up to Jacksonville. Gabrielle is now moving across the state toward the northeast. A tropical storm warning is in effect along the Atlantic coast from north of Jupiter Inlet in central Florida to Brunswick, Georgia.
Most of the damage in the state is minor. Tornadoes were spotted in Venice along Florida's west coast, but there's no known damage or injuries from the twisters so far.
The roof was blown off a motel in Manatee County. About 100 people there had to seek shelter elsewhere A small bridge is washed out in Oneco.
Numerous trees are down in several counties. A few roads are closed. A man got stuck in a drain pipe in Sarasota. He was rescued and taken to a hospital.
