Stone County Population Boom Continues

A Wiggins realtor says he gets calls everyday from people wanting to move to the country.

Realtor Allen Walters says Wiggins and Stone County continue to hold on to their small town charm. And he says that's why a lot of people want to live there.

Walters says even though the population continues to grow, there's still lots of room to spread out.

"There still is a lot of government land and we're not heavily populated at this point. So we still have available places that allow people to get out and be out in the country and have a little farm, a little garden and kind of have a little piece of the country life."

Walters says many of the people considering a move to Wiggins and Stone County are retirees and those who lost everything in Hurricane Katrina and who want to get away from the coast.
