Biloxi Names Interim Football Coach And Athletic Director Following The Use of Ineligible Players

Biloxi School Superintendent Dr. Larry Drawdy told WLOX that Rodney Saucier has been named the Biloxi Indians Interim head football coach and Kenny Hall has been named interim athletic director, replacing Mike Battles who's job apparently is in jeopardy.

After posting two wins to open the 2001 season, beating Bogalusa, Louisiana and Gulf Breeze, Florida school officials realized that coach Mike Battles used three ineligible players. Biloxi high school contacted the Mississippi High School Activities Association and the school is awaiting word on possible penalties.

The Indians will have to forfeit their two wins and hope to remain eligible for the playoffs. Biloxi has yet to play a division game. Dr. Drawdy would not comment on the status of coach Mike Battles.

Only one of the three ineligible players was a starter for the Indians. Biloxi travels to D'Iberville facing the Warriors 7:30 Friday night.
