Biloxi Indians Will Have To Forfeit Victories After Using Ineligible Players

The Biloxi Indians opened the 2001 high school football season on fire. They opened at home on August 31st and ran past Bogalusa, Louisiana 35 to 6 and came right back with an impressive road win at Gulf Breeze blowing past the Florida high school 31 to nothing.

However, Indians head coach Mike Battles realized he used three ineligible players in those two victories. He notified the Mississippi High School Activities Association and reportedly Biloxi must forfeit those two wins and Coach Battles will be suspended for two games.

Biloxi travels to D'Iberville Friday night and apparently Coach Battles won't be on the sidelines. A person close to Biloxi's football program, who did not want his name released, said the three players just slipped through the cracks and when Coach Battles finally realized the mistake, it was too late.

Names of the ineligible players have not been released.
