Least Terns Have Left Coast Beaches

The least terns are gone, and the beach is back to normal.

Harrison County beach crews have been busy the last couple of weeks, rolling their tractors through sections of the sand that were off limits while the birds nested there. The heavy equipment removed the grass the birds used to hatch and raise their flock.

Normally, the least terns leave the beach around the middle of August.
