Gautier Man Turns Himself In For Gulfport Woman's Murder

Robert Wilkerson, 38 of Gautier, is behind bars after turning himself in Sunday for the death of a Gulfport woman.

He surrendered around 9am Sunday morning, just about the same time Gulfport Police found the woman's body.

The 55-year-old woman was discovered at a home in the 100 block of Canal Street, situated between Washington Avenue and Courthouse Road. The victim's name has not been released, but police say she knew Wilkerson.

He is charged with capital murder and is being held without bond at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center.

Police say the victim was robbed and killed. Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove says she was strangled to death.
