Chatauqua Festival Held At Beauvoir

A cultural tradition from the past has re-emerged in Biloxi.

This weekend, Beauvoir celebrated Chatauqua, a celebration of culture, history, and entertainment. Chatauqua started in New York in the 1800s and then became a traveling show including art, music and dancers.

During today's event, visitors got a sample of Native American dancing and foods. They also made arts and crafts and listened to history lecturers.

Beauvoir officials say Chatauqua is intended to provide an educational experience in a way that's fun for the whole family.
