Two days before the kickoff of the 2001 Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon, a team of Biloxi police and firefighters fired up the grill and the fish cookers today for Jerry's kids.
Biloxi's public safety department hosted a lunchtime fish fry to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. They sold hundreds of plate lunches for $5 each, with all the money going to MDA.
The team dished out plates of fried fish and grilled hamburgers on a large assembly line then delivered the meals throughout the area over the lunch hour. The effort raised $5,000 for Muscular Dystrophy.
Local businesses donated all the food and supplies for the charity event.
