An audio taped confession, marked the first day of the capital murder trial against Terry Stewart. Stewart is charged with stabbing Ralph Bourg to death in 1998 in Pascagoula. Stewart is one of two men arrested in the death. The prosecution called the murder a "senseless death that resulted from a botched robbery".
The jury heard a long conversation between Stewart and the police taped three years ago, where Stewart admitted stabbing Bourg several time in self defense after seeing a gun. Police later testified to never finding a gun or evidence to prove a gun was involved. The second man arrested, 26 year old Simeon Dykes pleaded guilty to murder charges last year.
