Lion's Club Gives Yearly Award To All Biloxians

For the first time in 75 years, the Biloxi Lion's Club changed the way it honors an outstanding citizen. Instead of choosing one person, the organization named every Biloxian its "Outstanding Citizen for 2005."

Lions Club leaders say it's hard to pick one winner because so many people deserve the honor for their courage, dedication and spirit in the aftermath of Katrina. Mayor A.J. Holloway accepted the award on behalf of his city.

"The real story of the storm is not the massive destruction that we've endured. The real story is the resolve and resilience we've seen in the people of Biloxi," Holloway told the crowd.

The Biloxi Lions Club also presented a plaque to the mayor and city council for their leadership before and during the storm, and through the rebuilding process.
