Another Suit Filed In Connection With Explosion At Moss Point Home

A Moss Point woman has filed the latest lawsuit stemming from an explosion at a home last August.

Shermenida Simmons' child was hurt in that explosion. The city is named because it supplied natural gas service to the house.

Simmons filed the lawsuit in Jackson County Circuit Court on behalf of her son, Desmine Lamar Erving. Desmine was 21-months old at the time of the blast, which destroyed the house they were living in with other family members.

The suit alleges the grandfather was negligent for not properly converting the appliances in the house from natural gas to electricity. Along with the grandfather, the contractor, and a city employee are also named in the suit.

No trial date has been set yet.
