DANTZLER HOUSE COULD BE NEW HOME

Mardi Gras Museum Will Move

Biloxi's Mardi Gras Museum has outgrown its home near the Vieux Marche. So Biloxi leaders are putting money in next year's budget to move the museum out of the historic Magnolia Hotel.

One of the plans under consideration is to transfer the carnival costumes to the Dantzler House on Hwy. 90 near the lighthouse.

"I think it would give the Mardi Gras Museum a chance to expand," Biloxi Cultural Director Lolly Barnes said. "It would be in a very visible location at the Dantzler House, and the Dantzler House is a beautiful space where you could display the costumes and really interpret that story."

More than 30,000 people have toured the Mardi Gras Museum since 1998.
