The Oaks To Welcome Golfers Again

The Oaks Golf Course in Pass Christian is coming back. The facility shut down after hurricane Katrina and the former owner declared bankruptcy.

Since the hurricane, virtually nothing has been done to the course, but all that will soon change. General Manager Russ Bloom says clean up will start soon and they hope to have the golf course open again by this summer. Bloom adds, The Oaks will go from a good golf course to a great one.

"We are excited," Bloom told WLOX News. "The new management company, is committed to making this one the top 100 courses in the nation."

Pacific Life Insurance company now owns The Oaks. They have hired OB Sports out of Scottsdale, Arizona to run it. The company also operates golf courses in places like Palm Desert, California and Scottsdale, Arizona.

The announcement puts to rest the rumor that the course would not re-open, but instead, would be bulldozed to make room for more houses.
