Diaz To Face Tax Evasion Charges

State Supreme Court Justice Oliver Diaz will stand trial on tax evasion charges February 6th in Jackson. But Diaz's attorney, Rob McDuff, says he will ask that the trial be moved to the federal courthouse in Gulfport, even if it means a delay in the trial.

McDuff wants the trial held on the coast because the indictment against Diaz originated in Gulfport. The government accuses Diaz of covering up income as loan repayments.

Diaz has pleaded not guilty. His former wife pleaded guilty to a similar charge and is awaiting sentencing.
