Red Cross Scaling Back Feeding Routes

The American Red Cross Disaster Relief Operation along the Mississippi Gulf Coast is scaling back its Emergency Response Vehicle feeding routes. Henry's Kitchen – where area residents may take out or dine under the tent on the Charles B. Murphy Elementary School campus – will remain open in Pearlington.

The route closures are another sign the community is making its way back to a more normal life. Red Cross surveys indicate that many people receiving meals from ERVs are disaster, debris removal and construction workers.

As part of the economic recuperation, the Red Cross and government officials are encouraging the workers to purchase meals from local restaurants and other vendors.
