Saints Hope To Get Their Kicks With Carney

NEW ORLEANS (AP) _ John Carney, one of the NFL's most accurate kickers, signed a one-year contract with the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. Financial terms of the deal were not announced. The 37-year-old Carney has played 14 seasons in the NFL. Last season, he made all 27 extra points and 18 of 25 field goal attempts for San Diego, including a team record-tying 54-yarder at Kansas City. Carney is San Diego's career scoring leader with 1,076 points. He holds or shares nine Charger kicking records, and once held the NFL record with 29 straight field goals. He's made 263 of 325 field goals for an accuracy rate of 80.92 percent, fourth alltime. Also, the Saints waived kicker Jeff Hall.
