Jackson County in State of Local Emergency

Due to the National Weather Service issuing a tropical storm watch that includes Jackson County, the Board of Supervisors Saturday morning, August 4th, declared the county to be in a state of local emergency.

This declaration allows measures to be taken to protect residents and county property and facilities. County officials will meet late Saturday afternoon to discuss any further action needed in response to National Weather Service Advisories.

Civil Defense Director Todd Adams recommends that residents of low-lying areas begin making preparations to evacuate if necessary. Heavy rains and strong winds are associated with this storm. All residents are advised to keep a close watch on weather advisories
