Grant Money Will Help Make Intersections Safter

Another grant from State Farm Insurance will help make three dangerous Gulfport intersections safer.

Last month, the insurance company included the intersections of Courthouse and Pass Roads, Hwy. 49 and Creosote Road, and Hwy. 49 and Community Road in its list of the state's most dangerous intersections. State Farm says it will give communties up to $20,000 to study the intersections and make them safer.

Gulfport Public Works Director Chris Riemann says he is waiting for the insurer to send him a grant application packet. The state department of transportation will also apply since Highway 49 is a state maintained road.
