Salute To The Military A Bit Different This Year

The people of the Coast said thank you to our military last night at the 27th annual Salute to the Military. The event was postponed last month, due to hurricane Katrina, and the venue was moved, from The Coast Coliseum, to the Seabee base, also becauses of Katrina.

Weather problems in Washington D.C. , also prevented the keynote speaker from being there. Congressman Gene Taylor filled in for Admiral Michael Mullin, the chief of naval operations. The fourth district congressman told those in attendance, that there were a lot of heroes in the room. He was speaking not just of active duty military, but retirees as well.

The congressman also thanked the military for all they have done, since Hurricane Katrina hit South Mississippi on August. 29th.
