OFFICER RESPONDING TO DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE

Biloxi Officer On Administrative Leave After Shooting

A Biloxi Police officer is on administrative leave following a shooting early Saturday morning.

Authorities have not released the name of the officer involved. Investigators say the incident took place at a home on Sophie Street in east Biloxi around 4:15 a.m. That's when officers responded to a domestic disturbance there. Police were told a man there was armed with a knife.

Investigators say when officers arrived, one of the officers got into a confrontation with the man and then shot him in the stomach. The man was taken to Biloxi Regional Medical Center. His condition has not been released.

The District Attorney's Office is investigating the incident. It is normal procedure for the officer to be placed on administrative leave following a shooting.
