Fishermen Needed To Help With Marine Cleanup

The Department of Marine Resources is recruiting commercial fishermen to help remove marine debris from the Mississippi Sound. The cleanup will extend from south of I-10 in the three coast counties to the state line.

The project is still being planned. A DMR spokesperson says Alabama had a similar program after Hurricane Ivan.

The fishermen who help out will be paid, but how much hasn't been determined. DMR hopes FEMA will reimburse any expenses.

Fishermen who want to participate should call DMR at (228) 374-5016.
