Church Mission Team Visits Biloxi

Church volunteers from Grafton, Wis., are spending part of their summer doing mission work on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

One group is renovating an elderly Biloxi woman's home on Pearl Street. The young people and adults are from Pilgrim United Church of Christ. They're working with the Biloxi Back Bay Mission on several home improvement projects.

Seven adults and 20 young people will spend a week doing the construction work.

"It's a lot of fun. I was talking to the lady that lives here and she was so surprised that we're not getting paid. But we explained to her that we're with all our friends and we're just having a great time," volunteer Katie Karnish said.

It's not all work and no play for the visitors this week. They're planning to spend some time on the beach and visit New Orleans.
