The parishioners of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Pass Christian are hoping to rebuild their church right back on the beachfront.
St. Paul's is one of ten churches in the Diocese of Biloxi destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. Tuesday night, Bishop Thomas Rodi met with St. Paul's parishioners to listen to their thoughts about rebuilding.
While there was some talk of moving north, away from the beach, the majority of parishioners told Bishop Rodi they want their church home on the same site, where it's been since 1847.
The Bishop will hold similar meetings in other parishes in the coming weeks. In all, ten Catholic churches were destroyed or gutted. Another ten were severely damaged.
Though the Diocese had enough insurance to cover today's equivalent to Camille damage, a spokesperson says it's unlikely to be enough.
