GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

Police have identified the man who was found shot to death late Tuesday night in Gulfport.

Michael Lossett, 38 of Gulfport, died from a gunshot wound to the chest, say authorities. Sandra Marie Goff, 23, was arrested Wednesday and charged with first-degree murder in the death. Police said Goff shot Lossett after an argument broke out and escalated.

Police said a neighbor initially called to report hearing a gunshot. When officers arrived at the home on River Road, they found Lossett with a gunshot to the chest. Goff was still at the house, said authorities.

After searching the home and gathering evidence, police identified Goff as a suspect. She was still at the home and was taken into custody without incident, said police.

The court affidavit says Goff admitted to shooting Lossett due to Lossett yelling at her girlfriend, Teer. Teer stated she was standing in front of Lossett when Goff shot Lossett, according to the court document.

Goff was already out on bond after being charged with stealing a vehicle in D'Iberville in 2017. Because of that, she was denied bond for the murder charge. She is now in Harrison County Adult Detention Center.

If you have any information regarding this incident contact the Gulfport Police Department at 228-868-5959.
