Diocese of Biloxi Installs New Bishop

The mandate of Pope John Paul, II was carried out Monday afternoon as the Catholic Church ordained and installed Monsignor Thomas Rodi as Bishop of the Diocese of Biloxi.

Hundreds of people gathered at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cathedral for the installation of Bishop Thomas Rodi. Bishop Rodi is the second Bishop to hold the position in the Biloxi diocese. Bishop Joseph Howze became Bishop when the diocese was created in 1977 and after 24 years of service, he says he is ready to retire.

Before coming to Biloxi, the 52-year-old Rodi served as vicar general for the archdiocese of New Orleans, which means he is the chief administrator.
