LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WIS) -

The Lexington County Sheriff's Department says there is no foul play suspected in the death of a 30-year-old Lexington County man who was the subject of the TLC show "My 600-lb. Life."

James Edward "L.B." Bonner, Jr., was found dead with a gunshot wound following a welfare check on Aug. 2 in Lexington, according to a Lexington County Sheriff's Department incident report obtained by WIS.

"As we await information from the coroner’s report on Mr. Bonner’s death, we are not seeking any persons of interest or suspects as part of our continuing work on the case," Captain Adam Myrick with the Lexington County Sheriff's Department said.

Bonner was 30 years old.

In March, Bonner told WIS that his experience on the TLC reality show was "an amazing journey" as he worked to turn his life from heavy drinking, the loss of his best friend, and losing his leg in an ATV accident.

Bonner, who was known as "Little Buddy" by those close to him, said an episode of the show made him want to restart his own life. At one point, Bonner weighed 642 pounds.

"Doing the show has been an amazing journey not only for me but for my family as well,” he said. “It’s changed my relationship with myself, my relationship with my family, my relationship with my friends, and it’s giving me an outlet to motivate and inspire so many other people.”

After the show, he continued his weight-loss goals.

But during his journey, Bonner gave advice based on his own experience.

"Keep on keeping on. Baby steps lead to huge results. You know, habits don’t happen overnight. It’s not going to change overnight. You just have to keep on with it," Bonner said.

Bonner is survived by his parents, siblings, and a number of loving family members and friends. The TLC network released a statement about Bonner's death saying in part, "TLC was deeply saddened to hear of LB's passing and is honored to have shared his honest and courageous story on My 600-lb Life."
