A Jackson County man is facing felony charges after authorities say he messaged the wife of a school resource officer, threatening to harm the entire family.
Authorities say Colby Alexander Tolbert, 20 of Hurley, sent multiple messages to the wife of the officer. In those messages, Sheriff Mike Ezell said Tolbert threatened to kill the officer and assault his wife and child.
According to the sheriff, Tolbert was previously arrested by the officer. It's unclear how long ago that arrest was. Sheriff Ezell said multiple messages were sent via social media over the last two weeks.
Tolbert is charged with retaliation against a public servant and cyberstalking/making email threats. He appeared before Judge T. Larry Wilson on Friday, where his bail was set at $7,500 on each charge for a total of $15,000. Tolbert was also ordered not to have any contact with the victims.
