NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

A year and a half after leaving Sacramento for New Orleans in a trade, DeMarcus Cousins is going back to California, where he will sign with the Golden State Warriors on a one year deal worth $5.3 million.

Cousins was in line for an exponentially richer contract before he ruptured his Achilles in late January. The uncertainty about his return drove down the market, with the Lakers being the only other team reportedly interested in the six-time All-Star.

Stephen Curry welcomed his new teammate to the Bay Area with a tweet referring to Curry and Klay Thompson's nickname as the Splash Brothers:

The Warriors eliminated the Pelicans, without Cousins, in the 2018 playoffs, winning four of five games en route to their third NBA title in four seasons.
