WLOX Editorial: See something, say something

SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) - Seeing something, then saying something really paid off recently in Ocean Springs. A good citizen in Ocean Springs reported a group of five young girls who appeared intoxicated with a 20-year-old man.

The caller was right to be concerned. As it turned out, by the time police arrived two of the young girls were unconscious in a cemetery. And none of the five girls ages 11 to 16 were supposed to be with this guy.

Police say he picked them up from foster care in Mobile, Alabama after making contact with one of them on Facebook, brought them to Ocean Springs and gave them Xanax and marijuana.

Fortunately, the girls are ok and returned home. Our thanks to the citizen who first called police and to the officer who responded. Thanks for putting this guy in jail on felony abuse charges.

Our take away on this, it pays to say something if you see something wrong. That's our opinion, we would like to hear yours. Email your thoughts to editorials@wlox.com.
