Lawmakers Enter The Saints Fray

A Louisiana Congressman has stepped in to prevent the New Orleans Saints from moving to Mississippi, or anywhere else. That would likely take a new stadium, either downtown or somewhere in metro New Orleans. Saints negotiators broke off talks with the state yesterday, saying none of the offers would work.

Today, Congressman Representative David Vitter of Metairie sent a letter to team owner Tom Benson and Governor Mike Foster asking them to get a mediator to help reach an agreement to keep the football team.

Vitter gave them a 3pm Friday deadline, but the Congressman's spokesman admits, there's really no federal action that can be taken and Vitter's just trying to spark a new round of talks.
