A hospitalized high school student in Alabama was able to attend graduation thanks to a robot

Shortly before graduation, LeFlore High School senior Cynthia Pettway was hospitalized.

She was told she wouldn't be able to attend her graduation ceremony.

So the school and the hospital teamed up and came up with a unique solution.

An internet-enabled, rolling robot equipped with iPads that would allow her to attend the ceremony remotely.

Dressed in a cap and gown, the robot took the stage while Pettway watched via livestream.

Graduating was very important to Pettway, who attended night classes to earn her diploma.

"I’m my grandma's first grandbaby, her first one to only go and get to walk that stage, so I had to walk that stage, and I rolled across that stage."
