OAKLAND, CA (WVUE) -

With Golden State missing one of their biggest stars, it was supposed to be the game that the Pelicans could steal on the road to start the series. But the Warriors said no Steph Curry, no problem, exploding out to a 21-point lead after the 2nd quarter with Klay Thompson leading the way.

"That was probably the loudest I've heard Oracle all year. It was kind of a weird regular season, but the playoffs are here," said Warriors Head Coach Steve Kerr. "Our guys feel that, our fans feel that. That second quarter reflected what's at stake and what we're trying to accomplish."

"I was a little bit disappointed because I think we had some mental breakdowns defensively, which we didn't have. But they're also very good offensively, and they create some of those breakdowns in their execution," said Pelicans Head Coach Alvin Gentry.

"What happened in the second quarter is inexcusable. I can't blame it on a week off of rest. It's a lack of communication and not being disciplined. If we can clean that up, we'll be fine," said Pelicans guard Rajon Rondo.

For the Pelicans, it shouldn't necessarily be back to the drawing board, but they will have to execute at a much higher rate and certainly limit those bad turnovers if they want to be successful in game two.
