Ex-employee at Meridian nursing home accused of theft

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - A former office manager at a Meridian nursing home has been indicted for allegedly stealing money from residents and the facility.

Attorney General Jim Hood says 39-year-old Christy Moulds surrendered to authorities Monday and was processed at the Lauderdale County jail. It was unknown if she's represented by an attorney.

A grand jury charged Moulds with six felony counts of exploitation of a vulnerable person and one of embezzlement. If convicted, Hood says she faces up to 70 years in prison and $35,000 in fines.

The indictment states she stole more than $250 from each account of six different patients by falsifying Trust Fund Cash Request Forms. Under the embezzlement charge, the indictment states that she took between $5,000 and $25,000 from the nursing home's Resident Trust Account.
