New Program Helps Families Buy Homes At Reasonable Prices

A new neighborhood in Moss Point is giving first-time home owners more affordable choices.

The new Point Place neighborhood was made possible through the city's 2010 committee along with state and federal grants. The ground breaking on Thursday marks the start of the Point Place subdivision.

All of the three-bedroom brick houses will be in the $65,000 range, but a combination of state and federal grants will keep the price in the $40,000 range.

Point Place is also making good use of an abandoned piece of property. Thirty years ago, the property where Point Place is located was designed for a neighborhood but was never developed.

The program will provide homes for 40 middle class families. If you'd like to learn more about the program, you can call Housing 2010 at (228) 474-8580.
