Pelicans move on from bizarre roof leak

Pelicans move on after postponement of game against Pacers. Pelicans move on after postponement of game against Pacers.

It's something you don't see every day in the NBA. In fact for guard Jrue Holiday, he hadn't seen it ever.

" I've never experienced that before ,you know what i mean. So it was different," Holiday said.

Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry couldn't help but notice the irony after Wednesday night's  leaky roof at the Smoothie King Center.

"They talked about it being the most durable substance that they had. It's just a fluke thing that happened," Gentry said. "I thought it was ironic that we have a roofing convention in this city at this time."

The hole in the roof led to moisture on the court which was too much to overcome, and the game against pacers was postponed. Gentry said his team wanted to play and maybe could have played, but in the end it the right thing to do to remain cautious.

"I think there's a possibility, but there's also a possibility that someone could have gotten hurt. You weigh those two things and it's not worth the risk. I know Nate (McMillan) wasn't about to put his players out there, and I didn't think it was a good idea to run our players out there."

Gentry said he has no idea when the game will be rescheduled. The two teams will have to find a common date later in the season, something he said may be easier said than done.
