Wheelchair-Bound Dog Wins National Title

An English bulldog from South Mississippi has captured the hearts of the judges in a nationwide contest. "Lilly," who gets around in a special wheelchair, won the title "Most Reliable Pet" given by JELD-WEN, a company that makes windows and doors.

Lilly was paralyzed last year after being run over by a car. She's now the mascot for the Humane Society of South Mississippi.

In honor of Lilly, JELD-WEN donated $5,000 to help build a new shelter in Gulfport.

"Lillly is so cheerful, she's been through so much, being injured and abandoned and paralyzed, but she gets around and she cheers everybody up. She shows people that everyday's a new day and it's more fun if you're happy," JELD WEN Spokesperson Lynne Butterworth said.

Lilly beat out 300 other contestants throughout the U.S. and Canada, including cats, goats, horses and even a ferret.
