Carpet cleaning companies are soaking up a lot of business this week. That's because Monday's severe weather caused flooding problems for dozens of homes, apartments and businesses across the Coast.
Crews are working overtime to clean the drenched carpeting, remove the water, treat mildew, and repair any damage. Some carpet cleaners are booked up until the middle of next week.
Lead Carpet Technician Scott Hobbs with Carpet Savers says it's been real hectic. Most of his jobs involving sucking up water from soggy carpets. He says all the rain on Monday and the rising waters flooded quite a bit of homes. Hobbs says it's been a real nightmare trying to get to as many homes as possible.
It's also been a busy week for local rental companies. Several businesses are out of wet-dry vacuums, pumps and carpet cleaners this week, because many homeowners are renting the equipment and other supplies to do the job themselves.
