Police Nab Man For Early Morning Bank Robbery

Gulfport police arrested a bank robbery suspect Thursday morning less than three minutes after he ran from the bank.

Police caught Jeffrey Ray Clayton near Hwy. 49 and Dedeaux Road shortly after the robbery took place around 9:45 a.m. Police said Clayton walked into the Norwood Village branch of Hancock Bank, stole an unidentified amount of cash, and drove off.

Three people were with Clayton when police stopped the getaway car. Investigators determined... the threesome had no role in the bank robbery.

Clayton was charged with armed robbery. His is being held on a $1 million bond.
