(Pascagoula) -- Everything's ready for Saturday's christening of the Navy's newest Aegis Destroyer. The USS Preble will be the 17th Aegis class destroyer christened at Ingalls Shipyard .
Crews spent Friday putting the finishing touches on preparations for the traditional naval ceremony. Its the first christening at Ingalls for new owners Northrup Grumman, which bought Ingalls earlier this year.
Saturday's ceremony is open to the public. The christening begins at 10 a.m., but visitors need to be at Ingalls main gate by 9:15 a.m.
The USS Preble is named for Naval pioneer Cmdr. Edward Preble, who served during the 1800s.
