Girls Learn About The Power Of Good Decisions

It was a "girls only" gathering at the Harrison County Courthouse on Friday. More than two dozen girls spent the day learning about health, safety and self esteem.

Deanna Favre, wife of pro football's Brett Favre, was among the keynote speakers at the "Girl Power" conference. She urged the young women to make good choices and consider the consequences of their actions.

The event also included some "girls" from WLOX-TV. Rebecca Powers and Carrie Duncan both shared personal stories of encouragement.

DHS helped organize the conference along with the Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse. The Partnership for a Healthy Harrison County also participated.

Deanna Favre gave each girl a pink, autographed, Green Bay Packers baseball cap. The caps can be bought online for $15. All the money raised benefits breast cancer patients.
