Developer Gets Green Light From Planning Commission

A multi-million dollar condominium project is one step closer to becoming a reality after being approved by the Biloxi Planning Commission Thursday.

Commission members approved a 65-foot height variance to build two towers on 12-acres, including the site where Slippery Sam's water park is presently located on Highway 90. The height variance puts the total height for the proposed Potofino condominiums at 140 feet.

Developer Ben Favret said the variance was needed to include more units and to provide a better view.

"It's part new units, but it's also for the view, because there are a number of trees surrounding the property," Favret said. "If you're at 75 feet, you're just above the tree height."

No one at the planning commission meeting objected to the development. The proposal will now head to the city council for final approval.
