BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

The previous year was a tough one for Lauren Hannah.

The 18-year-old was supposed to be enjoying her senior year at Biloxi High School. Instead she was battling a fast growing cancer at St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis. But thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Mississippi, her pain didn't go unnoticed.

Because of the Make-A Wish Foundation of Mississippi and Jeweler for Children, Lauren's dream of visiting Paris is becoming a reality.

"I've definitely had a dream of going to the Eiffel tower," Lauren said.

But the trip to the City of Lights comes after undergoing a maze of cancer treatments.

"She was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma which is a solid tumor in her soft tissue," said Lauren's mom, Erin.

After doctors found an 11 cm long tumor next to her tail bone, the teen was diagnosed on February 18, 2016.

"She looked at our faces and she was like, 'Am I gonna die,' because we were so devastated and at that point we were like no, no. So it was just a shock," Erin said.

Prior to her diagnosis, just sitting down was painful.

Through treatment, doctors were able to shrink her tumor. But it meant she had to spend her entire senior year at St. Jude Children's Hospital.

With the tumor no longer visible, there's no place for Lauren to go but up.

"I have a whole new outlook on life. I definitely don't take anything for granted. If you sit there and complain all the time, it's not going to get you anywhere. If you sit there and you have a negative attitude toward everything, it's not good for you," Hannah said.

Her surprise party was made possible by the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Mississippi and Half Shell Oyster House in Biloxi.
