HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - Two people ran from the burning home in the Saucier community overnight.
First responders say the duo was inside the burning building long enough to breathe in too much smoke. AMR rushed both people to the hospital so they could be treated for smoke inhalation.
They escaped their burning mobile home around 1:00 a.m. Wednesday morning. Harrison County fire chief Pat Sullivan says the occupants woke up and smelled smoke. They ran to the back door just as flames swallowed the Diamond Road trailer.
Fire units from Saucier, Lizana, McHenry, the CRTC, and the Harrison County Fire Service responded along with AMR and the Harrison County Sheriff's Department.
By the time they arrived, flames and smoke could be seen pouring out of the entire home. The trailer was a total loss. Sullivan says the home did not have working smoke alarms.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Harrison County Fire Marshal and the Harrison County Sheriff's Department.
