GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

We are learning more details about a police chase that led officers and deputies through Gulfport and Pass Christian on Monday morning. Parts of that chase were caught on video.

VIDEO: One in custody after Gulfport chase

Gulfport Police Chief Leonard Papania said the suspect has not been charged yet, because he's in the hospital. Papania said the suspect required medical attention that had nothing to do with his encounter with police.

Papania said the chase began after Gulfport police received a call from a gas station clerk about a man behaving oddly in front of the store at Dedeaux Rd. and Hwy. 49. The clerk thought the man had a gun.

The SUV the man got into was spotted by an officer nearby. That's when the chase began.

It went through that area of Gulfport and onto I-10, ending at Menge Ave. in Pass Christian.

The slow pursuit lasted about 40 minutes. No officers were injured.
