STONE COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - Stone County Emergency Management Director Raven James says he hasn't seen this much rain a long time, but as quickly as the rain fell, it's receding.
Reports indicate as much as seven inches of rain fell on Wiggins and its surrounding communities. James said throughout the morning downpour, ditches filled up, spilling water on to several roads. A handful of roads were closed for a short time causing drivers are few detours. James said he knows of one neighborhood road that washed out; He said CG Evan Road has five or six homes on it. In most places James said the water had recede and roads are open.
No injuries have been reported with this morning's rain.
A flash flood warning remains in effect for Stone County. Flash flood watches are in place for other coastal counties.
