GULFPORT, MS - In just a few days, the Gulf Coast Eagles will be heading to the Junior Super Bowl in Kansas City, Mo.
"It's very inspiring for me because when I was their age, we didn't have that opportunity," said Coach Leroy Johnson.
Johnson coaches the team of six young men, hoping to steer them to victory.
"For me to be able to take them all the way to the junior Olympics means a lot," said Johnson.
The road to the competition wasn't easy. It took months of hard work and determination to qualify, but Johnson is sure the kids have the potential to reach the top of the podium.
With the help of assistant coach Streak Trivillion, the vision is clearer now than ever.
"I give all the kids pointers to tell them what they need to do and what they shouldn't do just to keep them on track," said Trivillion.
Although most of the kids are aspiring NFL players, they're certain they'll be coming back with the proof that they're fastest.
