BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - An accident involving a train, a Biloxi Police Tahoe, and two other vehicles sent one woman to the hospital Tuesday night. It happened just before 8pm near Magnolia St. and Esters Blvd.
A Biloxi officer was conducting a traffic stop on the north side of the tracks on Esters. At the same time, another driver - a woman around 30-years-old - was headed south on Magnolia and about to cross the tracks as a train was approaching. The officer said the train conductor sounded the horn, but the driver continued across the tracks.
Unable to stop in time, the train smashed into the car and pushed it back toward the patrol vehicle and the other car that was initially stopped. The car then flipped and collided with both parked vehicles.
Lt. Christopher DeBack with the Biloxi Police Department said both the officer and the other driver escaped without injuries. The driver of the car hit by the train was taken to a local hospital but was alert and conscious. We don't know the extent of her injuries.
