"Our little car show has grown up a good bit," that's what Cruisin' the Coast Executive Director Woody Bailey recently told Harrison County Supervisors. He's right.
Twenty-one years into it and this fall event draws huge crowds to the Mississippi Gulf Coast to celebrate our continuing love affair with antique and classic cars.
Cruisin' organizers asked for a donation and got $10,000 from the supervisors to help with the cost of putting on the event.
We agree with the supervisors. South Mississippi is a tourist destination. This event results in millions spent in tourist dollars. It's good for business. It also produces added tax collections. The investment is worth the return.
