JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - A chase that started in Biloxi ended with a crash that injured two people, including the fleeing suspect, early Monday morning.
According to Biloxi police, officers tried to stop a truck for a traffic violation around 4 a.m., but the driver took off down Hwy. 90. Police ran the tag and realized the truck was reported stolen out of Pensacola, FL.
At one point a passenger got out and was arrested by Biloxi police officers. The driver kept going down Hwy. 90, leading police in Jackson County through Ocean Springs.
The chase ended after the suspect turned north in the southbound lanes of Hwy. 57 and hit another vehicle swerving to avoid a crash. Both vehicles ended up crashing in the median.
Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesman Chase Elkins said both drivers suffered minor injuries and police were able to take the suspect into custody.
The driver, identified as 27-year-old Cody Blasingame, of Lawrenceburg, TN, is charged with felony eluding and receiving stolen property. The passenger that bailed out of the truck was wanted on a misdemeanor charge and has been released from jail.
