PASCAGOULA, MS (WLOX) - A teenager is recovering after being hit by a truck while skateboarding in Pascagoula.
"He was coming real fast. You can tell by how the car leans," said local skateboarder, Cory Wallace.
It's a video the 16-year-old says is hard to watch. Cell phone footage shows Cory getting hit by a truck while skateboarding to a friends house.
"I don't remember it, but it is what it is," Wallace recalled.
Wallace says he was skateboarding in the middle of the street because of construction going on on the sidewalk on Lanier Avenue. He thought he would able to cross over to Eden Street. However, that wasn't the case as a car made a turn.
"He said he didn't notice me either and I didn't look up until I heard the tires screeching," said Cory. "That's when I knew a car was coming."
To his surprise, Cory only suffered minor injuries.
"They came over and asked me if there was anything wrong and if I was ok," said Cory. "I just told them that my leg's just really hurting bad right now."
Although his mother Yolanda is thankful he's fine, but has a lot of questions about what could have led up to the accident.
"When I look at the video, it doesn't even look like he attempted to stop. What was he doing that he didn't see a 6'1 black child with blonde hair on a skateboard," said Curry.
At this time, no charges have been filed against the driver.
